Sha-Sha Ribbon Purse

Posted in Sew | No Comments »

I spent a few hours today getting the ribbon woven for the purse. I sketched out the pattern and got the exterior all sewn. My daughter (Miss Chief), 2 1/2, helped me sew the lining - she pulled the pins and helped guide the fabric. I used 5/8″ ribbon instead of the 3/8″ mentioned in the toot - I just thought it would cut down on the weaving time. :) I used regular tape to hold down the ribbon and left the interfacing larger than the fabric. That way, it didn’t matter if I ironed over the edges. The kids really enjoyed pulling a random ribbon out from the stack - except that Miss Chief kept picking out the same color as my son (Beeze, who’s almost 8).

The purse is almost complete but I don’t happen to have anything to use as “feet” for the bottom. We need to run out tomorrow anyway for some DVD-Rs, so I’ll get something then. We would have gone today but our area in Colorado got hit by a snow & ice storm. Typical bi-polar disorder weather.
